Laser Cutter Checklist

LASER PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST:

1. CHECK LASER SYSTEM
Examine laser. Ensure laser is not on fire, and that the AIR ASSIST PUMP, AIR FILTER UNIT and LASER are in the off position.
2. CHECK LASER BED
Open laser door. Ensure there is no material in bed.  Sweep hand over grid to ensure no particles are on the surface of the grid.
3. LOAD LASER BED
Place your material on bed. ensure that the material is not FULL OF POISON. (consult "Dr.Florine's guide to dangerous vapors, at right). Ensure that material is SEATED ON BED, and not hung up on the rulers or on material from previous cuts
4. ACTIVATE THE LASER
Turn on the laser power switch on the left side of the laser. Allow boot time
5. FOCUS THE LASER.
Remove the laser focus dongle above. Place one arm of it on the magnetic chuck on the laser head. Activate focus mode, by pressing focus button. Lower the platform by pressing the focus down button until there is no deflection on the focal dongle. Then, raise the platform until there is a minute deflection in the focal arm.
5A. SET ORIGIN
If you are not going to use the top left corner of the laser bed as origin, set it now using the XY off button, the pointer button, and the set home button. This is explained in another poster, "ORIGINS, SETTING OF"
6. CLOSE LASER DOOR
Close the bed door.
7. PREPARE CUT ON SOFTWARE SIDE
Prepare your file on the laser computer to the right. this is beyond the scope of this checklist
8. ACTIVATE AIR FILTRATION UNIT.
Press green button below laser computer
9. ACTIVATE AIR ASSIST PUMP.
Use your toe to flip the air assist switch below laser bed
10. PRINT DOCUMENT
Print from laser comp
YOU MAY ELECT AT THIS POINT TO RUN THIS PRINT AS A TRIAL RUN. IF YOU CHOSE TO DO THAT:
A. OPEN LASER DOOR
B. ENABLE LASER POINTER
C. PRESS GO
THIS EMULATES A CUT MOVE BUT DOES NOT FIRE LASER TUBE


11: PRESS GO
This starts the print process. This is a live cut.
12. WATCH MATERIAL. If your cut does not start,
A. WATCH FOR CUT TO START.
B.PRESS STOP
C. WAIT FOR MOVE TO COMPLETE.
D. PRESS RESET
E. PRESS GO
WHY DID I HAVE TO DO THIS?
Sometimes the laser tube is SLOW TO START. This is because it was OUT DRINKING with the ROLL PRINTER. They are ALCOHOLICS

13. WAIT FOR JOB TO FINISH.
Machine will beep and emit the sound of a mazda rx7 dumping boost out of the waste gate. Pswhiii.
14. GIVE IT A SECOND
Let the machine clear any residual smoke from the volume, about 10 seconds should do.
15. REMOVE MATERIAL
Ensure you do not hit the laser head with material on remove. ensure that you collect all small parts from the platform.
16. TURN OFF AIR ASSIST PUMP.
Disable pump with toe switch
17. TURN OFF AIR FILTRATION UNIT
Press green button
18. TURN OFF LASER
Switch is on left side.
